Carolyn received a B.A. in Psychology from University of Colorado, Boulder in 1992 and a M.S.Ed. from Duquesne University in 1996.

Returning to Pittsburgh from Boulder she began working with children with special needs. She worked at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic and UPMC, Beaver Valley Hospital developing and running programs for children with depression, anxiety and behavioral problems. Carolyn worked with children and families in their home and school environment while working on her graduate degree. She was the Program Director of a Partial Hospitalization Program and After School Program from 1997-1999. Carolyn developed an interest in philanthropy and discovered Pittsburgh Social Venture Partners, becoming a partner in 2001 where she has embraced their philosophy and became an active partner. She has participated in the Grant Review process for 5 years, was the Site Visit leader in 2002 and was part of the team for two years thereafter. She has Chaired the Education Committee for three years and was on the Board of Directors of PSVP for two years. In addition, through PSVP she has worked extensively with two non-profit organizations in the community, helping to develop and document programs, restructure their business models and improve their outcomes.

Carolyn has been an active member of the Women’s Committee of the Carnegie Museum of Art since 2001 and has been the Chair of three events that recognize and raise money for the museum and I helped to coordinate their Outreach Program for several years. Her interests are in learning about new and innovative businesses both for profit and not for profit.

She has three very active young boys, is an avid runner and bicycler and loves to spend time with family.
